Moving to Penzance? Things you should know…

Penzance is a great town. On a wet winters day it can feel like the end of the world (well, it is the end of the rail network) but don’t let this put you off.

It’s location in the curve of Mounts Bay means you are never far from a spectacular view or a breezy walk on the beach. The town itself has a number of surprising sections with the charming Morrab Gardens and its collection of exotic plants blending nicely with hidden-away streets of slate covered townhouses.

The best things in Penzance are often found away from the busy shopping centre. The prom runs west from the town right to Newlyn and features the famous Jubilee Pool, the largest saltwater lido in the UK. If fact, 2019 is an exciting time for the pool as it undergoes major improvements. The surrounding areas contain a number of great places to visit, including National Trust properties at Trengwainton Garden and of course St Michaels Mount.

If you are after sport and outdoor activities then you will be very happy in Penzance. The bay offers great water sports like windsurfing and sailing and there are two well-established sailing clubs offering a thriving race scene.

The SW Coast Path runs right along the front and you are especially well catered for when it comes to cycling with everything from the easy seafront ride from Marazion to Mousehole through to challenging road and mountain bike routes across the granite moorland of West Penwith towards St Just and Sennen Cove. If you prefer tennis then you will find a vibrant tennis club tucked away in Penlee Park.
